			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If you were not already aware of this, following the school calendar the MHSCN membership year runs from September to August.  There is some sense in that approach as our services for communications, marketing and planning professionals are primarily educational.  Our annual membership fee of $40 is very reasonable, given the educational and membership benefits we offer to our more than 200 members around the state and region.<span id="more-1077"></span></p>
<p><a href="http://www.mhscn.com/?page_id=534"><strong>It&#8217;s easy to renew online or by mail</strong></a>.</p>
<p>In case you were wondering, our members take different approaches to membership renewal.  </p>
<p>Some have actually already renewed – they are the “early birds.”  Some of those are actually new members who joined for the first time in the last couple months, while most of the others are probably people who have details like this down on their calendars.</p>
<p>Many of us are “the right time is now” people.  We get the notice and start the process, either submitting a check request (if we have an employer who pays for memberships) or log on to mhscn.com, complete our registration and either pay online or by sending in a check.  </p>
<p>Finally, there is the group I’d call “just in time.”  If you are in that category (and many of us are), there are a couple of “just in time” moments coming up.  </p>
<p>In October, we have our annual conference (moved from the summer to avoid those vacation conflicts).  Many members renew in conjunction with the conference.  If your employer who doesn’t pay for membership, but pays for an annual conference, by paying the non-member rate, you get an annual membership.  A little tricky, but it will save you a little money. </p>
<p>Another “just in time” date is the end of the year, when everyone who hasn’t paid loses their membership benefits and won’t be listed in our 2011 membership directory, a very handy resources for networking with your professional colleagues.  If you want to continue your membership, but just have trouble getting around to it, you will get plenty of reminders.</p>
<p>Of course, we are happy to have you renew your membership any time during the year, but would rather not have you delay it too long and go “missing in action.”  However, whatever works for you works for u.  We routinely welcome back “prodigal sons and daughters” who thought they had paid for their annual membership. By the way, if you were wondering whether you are a member, we are happy to confirm your membership status.  You can find that out by  logging in mhscn.com or by talking with a board member.</p>

<p>The Manager, Internal Communications (IC) is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of an internal communication program directed at helping connect our employees around the world to company strategy and direction through effective communication.</p>
<p>Specifically, the role will focus on plans to improve our corporate communication channels and messaging to meet the diverse needs of our global workforce. St. Jude Medical is a highly decentralized and matrixed organization, and this role will work in partnership with our product and selling divisions as well as other key partners in Corporate Relations, HR, IT, etc. to help cultivate effective communication across the company.</p>
<p>Essential Functions:<br />
â€¢ Communication Channels: Develop an effective framework to understand what communication vehicles and tactics work best across our diverse divisions and employee base (field, office, manufacturing, international geographies, etc.). Significant focus on electronic communication channels, driving the continued evolution of the intranet across St. Jude Medical and working closely with selling divisions to address the need for effective mobile communication solutions. Closely partner with HR and IT to understand and integrate our growing system capabilities to better target the right information to the right employees through the right channels. Recommend and may develop new communications channels, as needed</p>
<p>â€¢ Communication Development: Work in close partnership with our PR &#038; Communication managers, MarComm teams, HR and other key stakeholders in the management of an editorial planning process and the development of key communications focused on keeping employees informed, connected and educated about our company, our key initiatives and our impact on customers, patients and communities. This may also include targeted communication plans, issues communication or other general communication support for business needs such as the development of communication templates, tools and best practices</p>
<p>â€¢ Leadership Messaging: The IC Manager will help drive the planning and execution of messaging strategies for our executive leadership and other divisional leaders as needed, including a monthly internal video program and a range of other customized tactics as needed. Efforts will also focus on supporting companywide initiatives to improve the communication skills of managers through a range of tactics, including the creation and roll-out of best practice tool kits.</p>
<h4>Qualifications:</h4>
<p>â€¢ Bachelorâ€™s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or related field<br />
â€¢ 7+ years internal communication experience<br />
â€¢ Excellent business writing skills for a variety of audiences and communications tools<br />
â€¢ Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic plans is required. This includes an understanding of the role of marketing and communications in contributing to the success of the overall organization<br />
â€¢ Ability to establish collaborative relationships with co-workers by successfully working with many types of people; this includes the corporate relations staff, corporate and divisional executives, and divisional marketing-communications personnel<br />

<p>The Service Line Marketing Specialist is responsible for providing marketing and communications planning and support for medical center service lines to shape positive opinions and evoke desired behaviors among target audiences through activities that may include consumer campaigns, physician referral campaigns, events, and general internal and external communication activities, including web design, and graphic design and photography.  </p>
<p>Two full time opportunities currently available in the Public Relations/Marketing division of Hennepin County Medical Center.   These roles will report to the Director of Public Relations.</p>

<p>Specific responsibilities include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Represent the marketing discipline in service line leadership teams.  Actively partner with operational leadership in the development and implementation of marketing plans.</li>
<li>Develop and implement marketing plans, writing, editing, and designing promotional collateral materials including brochures, ads, and other materials; develop project budgets; plan graphic design projects. </li>
<li>Develop content for the web, including design and development and writing for the web.</li>
<li>Support special events for staff and the public; plan and execute community event participation and outreach activities.</li>
<li>Work closely with colleagues in the Public Relations and the Business Development Program Manager, hospital administration, faculty physicians, and medical center staff to gain/maintain a comprehensive understanding of the operations, organizational goals and initiatives, medical specialties and common health conditions and current affairs.  </li>
<li>Become involved in professional improvement activities and/or community peer activities that support the work of the department.</li>
<li>Maintain a strong, innate interest in medical science. </li>
<li>Understand and follow all applicable hospital compliance and patient confidentiality restrictions and requirements.</li>
<li>Perform other related duties as assigned.</li>
</ul>
<h4>Qualifications:</h4>
<ul>
<li>College degree in marketing, business, mass communications, or related discipline plus a minimum of three to five years of health care marketing experience or an approved equivalent combination of training and experience.</li>
<li>Clinic/Hospital marketing experience highly preferred.</li>
</ul>
<p>Ideal candidate will: </p>
<ul>
<li>Possess prior experience developing/implementing marketing plans, writing, editing and designing promotional collateral materials.</li>
<li>Exhibit familiarity with the principles and practices of marketing and communications. </li>
<li>Work well in team settings (both large and small teams).</li>
<li>Be flexible and able to accommodate the needs of a diverse and fast paced environment.</li>
</ul>
